Satohash — the plain-English one-pager

In one breath

Satohash lets you prove a file existed at a certain moment in time — without ever handing the file to anyone. Your document is read on your own device, a short "fingerprint" (a long number that uniquely represents the file) is written into the public Bitcoin ledger using an open standard called OpenTimestamps. Anyone can check that fingerprint, forever, with free tools. No account. No login. No one can delete or backdate it — not even us.

We can't read your file. We never had it. We just proved it existed, on Bitcoin.

What it honestly does

What it honestly does NOT do (yet)

We do NOT… What that means
Prove who made a file We prove when it existed. Proof of authorship (a private-key signature) is the next chapter — built, not yet shipped as a product claim.
Act like a notary or a lawyer Not a notary, not a signature service, not a regulated timestamp authority.
File your taxes or satisfy a law We strengthen evidence; we don't replace any regulated process.
Promise it will be "believed" in court Admissible, not presumed accurate. Strong evidence — a court still weighs it.
Support anything but Bitcoin Bitcoin-only, forever. No Ethereum, no other chains.

The five things we're building for (the premium story)

  1. Mergers & acquisitions — prove data-room documents existed, when, and unaltered, without exposing the files.
  2. Family offices — long-horizon records (trusts, wills, property) that stay verifiable across generations, even after the advisor is gone.
  3. Latin markets (Spanish & Portuguese) — an independent existence-at-a-time layer alongside each country's official identity systems.
  4. Tax & compliance — proof of what was on file before a fiscal deadline; strong evidence for audits.
  5. Business & enterprise — the privacy-preserving integrity anchor; developer API for teams.

The pricing — locked

Every paid tier runs on Bitcoin/Lightning — no credit card gate. The free proof path stays free forever. (Paid billing isn't switched on yet — it flips once Lightning channels are funded and tested.)

The honest legal posture

The sentence that matters most: "Admissible, not presumed accurate." A Satohash stamp is strong, independently verifiable evidence that a file existed in a certain form by a certain time. It is not a notary, a signature, or a guarantee a court will believe it.

## In one breath

Satohash lets you prove a file existed at a certain moment in time — **without ever handing the file to anyone.** Your document is read on your own device, a short "fingerprint" (a long number that uniquely represents the file) is written into the public **Bitcoin** ledger using an open standard called OpenTimestamps. Anyone can check that fingerprint, forever, with free tools. No account. No login. No one can delete or backdate it — not even us.

> **We can't read your file. We never had it. We just proved it existed, on Bitcoin.**

---

## What it honestly does

- **Proves a file existed by a certain date** — a contract, photo, manuscript, dataset, or invention.
- **Only a fingerprint ever touches the internet.** The file stays on your device.
- **The proof outlives Satohash.** If we disappeared tomorrow, your proof still verifies through the open Bitcoin network.
- **Independent.** You don't have to trust us — you can check the math yourself.

---

## What it honestly does NOT do (yet)

| We do NOT… | What that means |

## The pricing — locked

- **Free tier: never paywalled.** Unlimited stamp / verify / receipt, client-side hashing. This is the permanent trust anchor — it always stays free.
- **Professional:** ~2,100 sats/month (≈ $29) — high-volume, individual.
- **Business/Studio:** ~21,000 sats/month (≈ $299) — teams and studios.
- **API:** pay-per-use, 1–5 sats per stamp.

Every paid tier runs on Bitcoin/Lightning — no credit card gate. The free proof path stays free forever. *(Paid billing isn't switched on yet — it flips once Lightning channels are funded and tested.)*

## The honest legal posture

- **No company entity is registered yet.** We operate openly as "Give A Bit" — a family of Bitcoin-native tools — under review as a **free, non-commercial service**. Terms say `[ENTITY TBD]` until that is settled with counsel.
- **Server:** Germany.
- **Identity:** intentionally not front-and-center right now (anti-dox), pending the product audit.
- **Bitcoin-only.** No other chains, ever.
- **Safe Harbour:** this is educational and informational — not legal, financial, or investment advice.

> **The sentence that matters most: "Admissible, not presumed accurate."** A Satohash stamp is strong, independently verifiable evidence that a file existed in a certain form by a certain time. It is not a notary, a signature, or a guarantee a court will believe it.
